Silver Kimmel

Silver was what some might call your typical Reading city alley cat. He was born sometime in either 2018 or maybe 2019, and while we do not know when exactly, when he came to the colony on north 2nd Street in Reading, he quickly established himself as a true presence. He was vocal and quickly befriended his human caretakers. We figured out very quickly that he was special even if he was just an alley cat. He eventually was adopted exclusively by Scott and Ed Kimmel sometime in 2024. He took up residence on their catio claiming for himself the highest available bed possible. He wanted to be eye to eye with his humans to let them know he saw himself as vastly superior. He was never fond of life inside and when he did wander into the kitchen area he never stayed more than an hour or two.

Sadly, his final illness seemed to come out of nowhere and found him needing to move inside for the short time he had left. He seemed resolved to this and allowed the pampering and attention he never permitted when outdoors amongst his feline family. He left behind his humans Scott and Eddie, his canine buddies Winston and Tootsie and most of all his “sons” Panther and Tux who he was never very far from in his day to day life. He will also be missed by the dilute tortie terror his humans called Barbra Jean. He often wrestled with her to show her who was in charge but could then be found curled up together in one of the numerous areas they shared basking in the sunshine which really was his favorite pastime.

Our thanks to the staff at the Pet Urgent Care in Wyomissing for their compassionate treatment shown to Silver at the end of his life.

Private Cremation was handled by Pet Cremations by Kuhn.
