Oreo was an important part of our family and leaves behind her beloved sister, Peanut Butter. We got them at the tender age of ten weeks, while grieving the loss of my mom, so it’s hard to put into words all our guinea girl meant to us. Oreo struggled with health issues, especially the past year and a half, yet she remained feisty and determined, up to her last day of her little life. What a fighter! We are thankful to have been able to have her pass at home, in our arms, being sent over the rainbow bridge with warm words of gratitude and encouragement. As an animal lover herself, there is no doubt that Mom was waiting for her and will take wonderful care of our sweet girl until we meet again.
We will miss the many kisses she’d give to express her love to us. Oreo enjoyed doing zoomies and exploring through her maze of Amazon boxes during floor time, being cozy in her hidey huts, playing with her stack of cups and other enrichment toys and puzzles, and there wasn’t a strawberry or carrot she didn’t love! She was very intelligent and would perform tricks such as “give me five”, circling, and ringing a bell for treats.
Oreo helped us mourn but also helped us grow, and that’s a blessing that we will carry with us for the rest of our days. Lyrics from the song "For Good" sum it up.
It well may be
That we will never meet again
In this lifetime
So let me say before we part
So much of me
Is made from what I learned from you
You’ll be with me
Like a hand (paw) print on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have rewritten mine
By being my friend
I do believe I’ve been
changed for the better
And because I knew you
I have been changed
For good
