With broken hearts, we say goodbye to our beloved Mason. It is hard to put into words the impact this gentle giant had on our family. You sealed the deal and made our decision easy that hot summer day when we came to see you and your litter of brothers and sisters. You were the only pup, named JJ after his Pop, to come bouncing out from underneath the shade of the porch. We couldn't keep your name, JJ, since our grandson had the same nickname, so we just knew it was fate and that you belonged to our family.
While his size may have intimidated some, well, maybe only some delivery personnel and possibly some trick or treaters, Mason never missed greeting you at the front door with one of his 93 (we counted) stuffed toys, none of which he ever destroyed. As a puppy, he preferred to chew on slippers, shoes, and dressers, thankfully outgrowing that quickly.
Once in our home, the next few minutes belonged to him, those big brown eyes practically pleading for complete attention. Who says a St. Bernard can't be a lap dog, or at least try anyway?
No, he was not just our pet; he was family for 11 short years, and the house is now a completely different place without him.
Mason, we miss you each and every day but take comfort in knowing that you can now be spoiled by Grammy Gayle, enjoy walks with Uncle Mike, and finally meet Grandpop Rodney. He'll love you too, I'm sure. Tell Putter we miss him, xoxo, and Woody Boy too.
We want to send special thanks to Mason's Mobile team, whose support and kindness we will be forever grateful for: John Jones and his wife, Judi; Lisa Bogacki, Cert. Canine Physical Therapist; Dr. Ashley Ramsey and the Chasing Tails Vet Team; and the Kuhn Funeral Home team.
Mason is survived by Mom and Dad; his five human siblings, Shelby, Nick, Megan, Elana, and Landon; nine nieces and nephews; his feline siblings, Colon and Angus; and one feline cousin, Naya.
