Mango

d. March 25, 2024

It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Mango Albaugh-Hartmoyer on March 25th, 2024. She passed away after a nearly four-year battle with an auto-immune disease. Despite her health shortcomings, that did not mean her days were not filled with comfort and happiness.

Mango was adopted on February 21st, 2016 from the Lebanon Humane Society: from there, she spent the next eight years with her parents, dwelling in each house her mother ever called a home. Throughout her years, she gained two siblings, Finn & Thea, who she spent time cuddling and play-fighting with.

As a female orange tabby cat, Mango was as rare as a comet in the sky. Her personality was also a rare experience. She had many quirks and charms, some of which included:

· Claiming any newly purchased item as Her’s – whether it be a shopping bag, article of clothing, or cat toy.

· Sleeping headfirst into her father’s smelly sneakers

· Clinging to the water dish like a drunkard holds onto a toilet

· Flopping down to sleep on her parents during the evening

· Cuddling in bed and using her human’s body heat to stay toasty in the wintertime

· Hogging any cool air from a floor fan during the summer

Mango made a positive impression on everyone she encountered. She was friendly, agreeable, and beyond affectionate: her parents miss her constant purring and after dinner hugs. As she aged, her medical complications became more prevalent. From cat-patterned baldness on her tail to the casual several-hundred-dollar medical emergencies, Mango was always one for dramatics. Even at her sickest, she was still as lovely as ever, spending her final days in her parent’s arms & bed.

Mango’s family would like to thank the Lebanon Humane Society, for changing their lives for the better eight years ago; Valley Vet Med Supply for providing the medication needed to sustain her quality of life; & County Companion Animal Hospital of Morgantown, PA for their true love and devotion to Mango over the years.

To honor Mango, we ask all to give their cat an extra pet and treat, and, if they are an orange cat, better make it two treats.

“She may be a lemon of a cat, but she’s, our Mango.”
