Cali

d. September 12, 2025

To our sweet Cali cat - 16 Years ago on August 30th, 2009. We adopted and brought you home from the Humane Society that afternoon and experienced our first sunset with you in our house and our lives. On September 12th, 2025, when we had to say goodbye to you, we experienced our first sunset without you.

Originally meant to be a gift for “Little Miss” you weren’t having it and quickly became and were a wonderful family pet, and we all love andmiss your spirited, pure, and unwavering love. I am proud and will forever cherish that you chose me as your “person”, becoming a huge part of my everyday routine and there is a part of my, our, life that is now empty.

You gave “Little Miss” comfort and love when you knew she needed it, you sat there and endured “The Child”, when she was a baby giving you “attention” with her hugs and crawling over you; never once hissing at or clawed her. You amused us when you antagonized “The Missus” and do it again and again.

You had so many beautiful behaviors and characteristics but the ones I’ll miss the most are: you greeting me every day after work, sitting next to me on the couch at night watching TV after everyone else goes then sleep, playing chase and hide and go seek around the house, hearing the patter of you running up and down the stairs and hallway; chasing whatever, giving you your morning belly rubs, you “yelling” at me if I was behind schedule for treats time, breakfast, and dinner, your visits during the day when I worked from home. How you always had to jump on the bed and “help” when I was changing the sheets. How you would always lay in the corner of the bed next when I was getting dressed for work, and your headbutts and nuzzles.

There’s a big empty in our life now and the house seems unfamiliar without you here. The days are a muted version compared to those when you were here. With so much love and never-ending memories, goodbye sweet Cali - you are deeply missed. Dave (aka Mister), Sherrie (aka The Missus) Corrinne (aka Little Miss), Mallorie (aka the Child), and Poppy (aka Dog).

Cali and we would like to take this moment to thank Dr. Zaruski and her amazing staff at Small Animal Veterinary Services for your empathetic and loving care of her and giving us one last summer with her, the comfort and assurance you gave me during her final moments and my most difficult time, and to Michael and the wonderful staff of Kuhn Funeral home for their caring and loving assistance with Cali’s final arrangements.
