Brutus (the Beefcake) Williams crossed over the rainbow bridge peacefully on Wednesday, July 14th in the arms of his mother and father at Ark Animal Hospital. Thank you to Dr. Jones and her staff for always taking great care of Brutus in both good and bad times.
Brutus was born on February 24, 2011, in Sevierville, Tennessee. Three months later, on May 22, 2011, he came home with his loving parents Amy Baker-Williams and Steven Williams of Reading, Pennsylvania.
Brutus was an outgoing and sweet French bulldog that literally befriended everyone, unfortunately even skunks (not once, but twice)! He loved everything that life had to offer, except getting his teeth brushed. From early on, he loved the outdoors, climbing rocks, running, and finding sticks. Brutus enjoyed the simple things, like long naps with plenty of snoring involved, leisurely walks, visiting the neighbors, sitting on the front porch with his humans, and laying by the pool. He spent hours sitting at the window, watching the world go by and acting like the president of the neighborhood watch. Brutus loved to travel, whether it was by car, ferry, bicycle, airplane or boat, he was up for whatever adventure life had in store for him. He traveled many places in his life. While living in Alaska for a few years, Brutus’ favorite thing to do was go fishing for salmon and halibut out in the ocean. He loved to hike in the mountains and by the lake. He once came face to face with an Alaskan black bear and managed to finish his afternoon walk unscathed. Brutus loved to meet other dogs and to play in the Pacific Ocean. He also loved the snow, no matter how cold it was, but also liked to go South during the winter to see his family in Florida. He loved the holidays, especially Halloween, when the children would come to the door for candy. Although his mother always dressed him up, he was a good sport and never complained! Brutus was the best hugger. He was known to sing and howl the blues with the neighbor when he played his accordion or his brother when he played his harmonica! He loved baths, squeaky tennis balls, Bark boxes, Chewy deliveries and he never missed a meal! He loved to go to parks and outdoor cafes, but spent most of his free time cuddling, watching tv, wrestling and chasing his sister, Bella.
More than anything else Brutus loved his family and was the best companion anyone could ask for. He was always there to greet you at the door and offer comfort through all the good and bad days. He had a fun and giving spirit and was always up for anything while offering a smile and a paw, even when his old and tired body continued to limit him and cause pain.
He is survived by his parents, as well as his companion, sister, and best friend Bella. He is also survived by his human siblings, cousins (human and furry), grandparents, aunts and uncles, and all the wonderful friends he made along the way in his action-packed life. To know him was to love him. He will be forever missed and forever remembered. In lieu of flowers, please give your dogs an extra hug and walk today.
